Installation Instructions 

1. Use a spirit level to mark a horizontal guideline on the wall where you want the top of the unit to be
2. Hold the metal fixing plate in place and mark the position of the fixing holes
3. Fix the plates to the wall, using masonry fixings for a brick wall; plasterboard fixings for a plasterboard wall
4. Hook the cubby onto the brackets and use the adjustment block in the top internal corner to position the unit accurately
5. Put a spirit level across the top of the cabinet and turn one screw to level it straight, then place the spirit level against the front face and adjust the other screw until it’s vertical

The Cubby Shelf comes to you with all of the fixings and is installed nice and easily, using cabinet brackets (please see illustration below).

3. Using a 6-7mm drill bit, drill holes in the wooden battens at the points where you’re going to drill into the wall. Check that you’re not going to hit any cables or pipes in the wall!
4. Mark the location for the holes on the walls, using the holes you’ve drilled in the wooden battens to guide you.
5. Insert wall plugs into the holes you’ve drilled
6. Fit the battens to the two walls, using the 90mm screws provided, ensuring that the battens are level
7. Slide the shelf over the battens.

Our alcove shelves have a unique concealed fixing system, with cavities on the two sides and the rear, and come with timber brackets which fit exactly into these cavities. This ensures that the shelves are easy to fit and very strong; having three fixing points instead of the usual one fixing point to the rear. Have a look at the short video above!

The Grande comes with a strong timber bracket – which is made to the exact dimensions of your shelf, enabling your shelf to hold weights of up to 30kg. The batten arrives tucked inside the cavity at the back of the shelf; simply ease the batten out, secure it to the wall and slide your shelf over it. You can then secure the shelf to the batten using the small screws provided, or a small dab of adhesive. The batten is completely concealed inside the shelf, maintaining the ‘floating’ appearance.

The Medio comes with two fixing options that are included in the price: the standard masonry rods and wooden batten fixings for use on plasterboard walls (these can also be used on masonry walls, so work brilliantly if your wall is a mixture of the two). The third fixing method is resin & threaded bars; you may find this a good solution if you are planning to put a lot of weight on your shelf, but it can only be used with a masonry wall and it does need a slightly higher level of DIY competence to get a good result! The resin & threaded bar fixings cost £16, which will be added to your total; the other fixings are free and you only need to select the quantity if choosing the resin & threaded bar fixings
